I grew up in Canada, but I wanted to see the world. In the 1990s, I moved to Asia, first to teach English and learn Mandarin Chinese, later to take a job in B2B copywriting for Global Sources, a Hong Kong-based trade marketing company that pre-dated e-commerce giant Alibaba. It was here that I got a front row seat to the rising industrial power of Shenzhen, and China was rapidly evolving into the world’s workshop. It was also my personal introduction to the exciting world of B2B marketing.
Several adventures in publishing, media, and content marketing followed. Along the way, I have hired and assembled teams and worked alone, dealt with every type of communication, from digital video to print brochures, worked with people from Scandinavia to Singapore, and learned from successes and failures.
